RESTAURANT OF THE MONTREAL BOTANICAL GARDENS

Undermined by years of incremental additions, this building of heritage interest needed its architectural elements to be showcased and its user capacity increased while respecting principles of sustainable construction as well as the current building code. Ékm designed a new layout that highlights the two original mosaics by artist Robert LaPalme and reconnects the visitor with beautiful views of the gardens on either side of the restaurant. A new central counter welcomes customers and improves the quality and flow of the service. At dusk, a subtle lighting plan enhances the experience in the dining room. Ékm coordinated the documentation and supervised the engineers in charge to update the outdated electromechanical systems to meet the requirements of the new restaurant, including its air conditioning.
